OOTD: Public Speaking Engagement

Apparently public speaking is one of the most common fears of Americans, which is something I love, because now my practiced ability of not saying "um" or "uh" and speaking loudly is celebrated as some kind of major talent. So, here's what I wore for a recent public speaking engagement.

Shirt: Thrifted
Skirt: Calvin Klien for Macy's
Shoes: Payless
Handbag: Walmart
Watch, belt: Target
Pearls: Gift

Do you all like public speaking?

  3. It is a major talent!

In high school, I sabotaged my grades so I'd graduate third in my class and avoid having to give a valedictorian or salutatorian speech. That's how much I fear public speaking. :/

  5. I absolutely love public speaking. It used to scare me, but back in middle school I was in a poetry club. We read our work to the school at assemblies and events, so I got used to it after a while. Once I got over being afraid it was a lot of fun to do.

Now I wish I had a chance to speak in public more often, actually.

  6. I'm terrified of public speaking, but I discovered the fear goes away as soon as I start, so that's a blessing.

  7. This is a great outfit, very professional and chic!
I also love public speaking which surprises everyone, especially me, because I'm an introvert.
I did 5 years of youth theatre to build up my confidence when I was at school, so now I just pretend I'm playing a more eloquent version of myself and find it really fun. Especially guided tours, but also giving lectures and conference papers (when I pretend to be a smarter, more eloquent version of myself =P)

  8. You look lovely!

Re: public speaking- As a professor, aside from standing before students and colleagues during meetings, we're required to attend conferences. I've given a good number of presentations and I believe it gets easier the more often you do it.
