Hot Topic Buys for Goths

So, Hot Topic gets a lot of flack from alternative types who complain about it not being the mall goth mecca that it used to be, and I've defended it before, but it's actually been a while since I've been in one (I never did get that summer job.)

Today I was at the mall with some friends and we stopped in the Hot Topic there. It was loud, crowded, and full of Harry Potter and Marvel Comics merchandise (and an awful lot of Little Mermaid stuff, is something new happening with that?)

Anyway, I actually came out with a few things! I got these cute batty hair bows (which were on sale for almost 50% off, score) and this coffin iron-on patch which I'm going to add to the DIY vest that I'm still planning out.

So when I got home, I decided to have a look at what other things I could find on their website that would suit some more Gothy people. Here's what I found!

So those are my picks! When was the last time you bought something from Hot Topic? Have you completely given up on it yet?

  1. Lol I was going to write a post like this but it ended up with me ranting about how dumb the jack skellington merch is. Like who dafuq is buying that? Your picks are nice, though when I was on the HT site it seems like it's nothing but licensed gear. I think you found the handful of stuff that isn't my little pony or whatever.

  2. I love Hot Topic for accessories - and I am a total button/pin addict so every time we're around a HT my daughter and I pick out a couple new buttons to add to our collection :)

  3. I have that black velvet dress in the third set of photos. I was surprised by the quality, and how nice it ended up looking on me. I scored another dress recently that's skeleton print, and I'm just waiting for warmer days to wear it. I've been noticing a trend with Hot Topic suddenly having more gothy sorts of clothes and accessories again. I frequented the place in middle school and high school, but went through a dry spell in recent years because nothing they had was terribly interesting to me.

  4. I've gone back to Hot Topic after years of finding their shift to kiddie crap annoying. I have picked up a few really, really nice crushed velvet dresses, as I think it helps that 90s fashion is back in style ;)

  5. Can't remember the last time I was in a Hot Topic. However, I do remember getting a pair of fishnet wrist warmers.

  6. I still buy eyeliner there. I used to get all of my black boot socks from HT, but I haven't had to buy more for quite a long while because they last so well.

  7. Wow, great picks. :)

I can understand all the complaining about Hot Topic a little bit, but gosh, I wish we would have a shop like that here. The only way to buy anything alternative is online shopping, so I would love a HotTopic-like store somewhere near. At least for the accessories and that kind of stuff. :D

  8. i used to love hot topic but really its getting more and more geared towards to little kids like 10-12 year olds in my opinion, i still buy jewelry and hair accessories but the cloths are sooooo adorable but only if your a size 10, even there 2xx would only fit a size 10, so ive started looking and eyeballing Torrid now hoping it will fit this fat girl

  9. Nice share. http://xn--c1aidaj7av7a.com.ua/ I think your website should come up much higher in the search results than where it is showing up right now….
