Recently I wrote about incorporating black and gold into one's home decor and, I have to say, the color combination has been growing on me. I think gold pops against black really well, flatters a lot of skin tones, and carries occult, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and other themes really well. So, here's some sets I put together that show off a variety of styles of Goth look with gold.
Do you wear gold jewelry or, like me, do you have reservations of anything outside the silver/pewter/white gold spectrum? What style rules have you set yourself in the past that you no longer hold yourself to?
Lately gold has been grown on me, too. I think the oppulent and pompous feeling about makes it a bit hard to pull it off. We might got used to it as we see it more and more on the streets. It's no longer a colour reserved for 'old women' or rich people.
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree. I think there's definitely an overall trend of it being hipper and cooler, so maybe we'll just get used to it over time.
DeleteGold always reminds me of the 80s. I can't help it. I own some vintage gold jewelry and I still wear it. Those are nice outfits you put together. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you very much!
DeleteI love black and gold together (mostly because silver looks a touch wonky on me - curse you, autumn coloration!). These outfits are great. I'm especially fond of that scorpion clutch.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard someone say that silver looks weird on them, I always thought it was a true neutral! Hmm
DeleteLately I've been liking gold more. Just got tired of wearing silver all those years
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm working on a post right now about self-imposed style rules and I've been feeling the same way. I felt like there was no other option but now I'm in a place where I'm willing to branch out just to try something new!
DeleteI occasionally wear gold.
ReplyDeleteNice!
