Shallow Wants: Summer Sandals

While summer will not technically be here for a month or so, it is definitely starting to feel like summer up in Massachusetts. As my the deadline for my final papers looms, I decided to take a break to sit out in the grass and read a particularly good scary story I've been reading. And as I sat out there and occasionally looked up (and I mean very occasionally, I'm glued to this book) to see the other college women walking around in sundresses and sunglasses and sandals. Now, while I've got some lovely outfits and sunglasses, I started wondering why I haven't bothered to pick up some cute sandals for the summer? They're so useful for keeping cool and being able to easily take them off (and then put them on again when one of the school geese decides that he doesn't like your face...ahem.)

Summer Spook

So, for you all today, I decided to post some Goth-appropriate sandals that I found around on the interwebs:

((It took me forever to get that pun...Modcloth, "nid" is not "need.")

Merona® Edda Zip Back Low Wedge Sandal from Target - 23USD

Women's Magda Stone Wedge from Payless - 25USD

Failing all of these options, it would be quite easy and fun to find a pair of simple black sandals in whatever style you prefer and then have at them with a hot glue gun and some supplies. I'm envisioning sandals covered in black roses, cameos, studs, ribbons and bows, or anything else you can imagine!

Have you all found any cute sandals lately? Where?

  1. Wow. I am very inspired by the thought of a cameo mounted on black sandals. Thank you.

  2. I love those gladiator sandals! If only I could find some for super-narrow feet...

    1. Ahh, I have the exact opposite problem! Shopping for unusual-widths of feet is awful though. I feel your pain.

  3. I'm not a huge fan of sandals, but in summer time I usually go for flats. Maybe this summer I'll try sandals out again! An irrelevant question: what spooky story were you reading? I've been looking for some new creepy tales, but am always let down.

    1. I was reading A Face at the Window by Dennis McFarland. Highly recommended!

I recommend joining Goodreads, it's a really good way to get recommendations based on books you've read and loved.

  4. I giggle a but when you were talking about your school geese, because we have them as-well! There's a statue in built for a particularly mean one. :3

I don't know if it's an Australian thing but most of my peers walk around without shoes all year long - so this is really relevant to such a boot-wearing person, as myself!

    1. It might be just your lot, but everything goes on a college campus it seems! I've seen tons of barefooted people. And people on roller skates in academic buildings...

  5. I live inside a pair of boots. Wearing canvas shoes (mostly converse) on summer has been my only choice. I hate having my feet exposed to dirt but I live in a tropical island and summer gets insanely hot. Thus, I've been lurking for sandals a few years now and looking at your post makes me think, the time is now! :P

  6. Great ideas! I need some sandals for my black maxi dress. I usually buy flats and add spikes to the sides. Or usually I wear flip flops. I live in the south (Alabama) and the summer can be unbearable. Time for shopping!

  7. I love those spider sandals! I'm very hard on shoes in general, so I usually have to buy a new pair of sandals every summer. By the time fall comes around, they're completely worn out. It's about time for me to get my annual summer sandals, so thanks for the inspiration!

  9. The only sandals I have are the cheap Old Navy flip flops I bought for my vacation in Guam. I'd love to find some cute goth-ier ones, but I haven't found just the right ones yet.

    1. In my opinion it's better to shop around and find something great after a while than rush it and spend money on something you'll never wear. :)

  10. The only pair of sandals I own are brown with a sort of ethnic vibe to them. They've got feathers and stuff on them and are incredibly comfortable!

I love the spider ones you put on here! They're so cute!
